N’Zogbia Furious about Kinnear Mispronunciation

By Sir Tipalot | Jan 30, 2009

joe-kinnear-interview-300x255 NZogbia Furious about Kinnear Mispronunciation

Joe Kinnear has infuriated Charles ‘Charlie’ N’Zogbia after mispronouncing his name in a interview after the Wednesdays defeat to Man City. Reports suggest that N’Zogbia has vowed never to play for the club under Kinnear again.

Kinnear told Alan Parry of Skysports “Shay [Given] pulled out with a knee injury as did Insomnia . . . Insomnia . . . er, Charlie.”

Alan Shearer is currently joint favourite at 5/2 with Kinnear to be the Newcastle manager in charge at the start of next season. Odds that might give Joe some sleepless nights.

Lawro’s Predictions - Worth a Punt?

By Sir Tipalot | Nov 1, 2008

lawros-football-tips Lawros Predictions - Worth a Punt?I’ve been checking in on Mark Lawrensons premiership predictions regualry on a Friday afternoon and have noticed that he seems to be getting 7, 8 or sometimes 9 out of the 10 Premiership games right. A lot of time he’ll get the goal margin right too.

So for this week I’ve decided to go with Lawros tips and put money on a Super Heinz (120 bets that takes in the various different combinations possible). I’ve decided to leave out 3 of the games involving Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal because they don’t offer great value.

Lawro’s Predictions:

Everton 2 Fulham 1

Middlesbrough 2 West Ham 1

Portsmouth 2 Wigan 0

West Brom 1 Blackburn 1

Spurs 1 Liverpool 1

Bolton 0 Man City 2

Newcastle 1 Aston Villa 1

A .10 cent bet on the 120 bets gives potential returns of €666.56. A note worth pointing out, I checked a few different online bookmakers to compare prices and the difference in returns was up €80. So it’s worth shopping around.

Saturdays English Football Betting

Going to go with a double and a treble today. The double comes from League Two. Table toppers Bury are away to Aldershot. I rarely go for away wins but I think 2/1 is a great price for a team going so well. To complete this double I’m playing it safe with Brentford to beat beat Macclesfield.

For the treble I fancy Wigan to beat Middlesborough, Reading to beat Burnley and Coventry to beat Southampton in the evening kickoff. 3 home wins. It pays 7/1.

Old Dogs Double

By ruker | Oct 2, 2008

This weekend features 2 of the newest managers pitting themselves against the premierships longest standing.

wengerferguson_3_779791 Old Dogs DoubleRoy Keane’s Sunderland host Arsene Wengers young guns whilst Man United travel to Paul Ince’s Blackburn Rovers. This fixture traditionally has never caused Arsenal a problem and I dont see it being any different this time around. With the hindsight of the Hull defeat fresh in their minds, 8/13 is an attractive price.

United seem to have been kick started since the Anfield defeat and are 8/13 to take all three points.

The ‘Old Double’ at 8/5 is a must this weekend.

Midweek Mourinho

By ruker | Oct 1, 2008

jose-mourinho Midweek MourinhoWhilst Mourinho never won the champions league with Chelsea, He did get them close twice.

This year I expect his new side Inter to qualify with ease from their group and his old team Chelsea to possibly go all the way.

They represent a nice price tonight at 5/4 for the double.

Chelsea’s away record this season has been excellent so the trip to unknown Cluj in Romania should not pose a threat to their 100% record.

Inter alike hold a 100% home record this season, the Milan derby loss was officially A.C. Milan’s home tie.

So 5/4 for the double seems the safest bet of the week.

Cream always rises!

By ruker | Sep 24, 2008

Italian football has taken back row to the financially superior English and Spanish leagues recently but this season may be the start of a return to the successful 90’s.

After Milans shaky start to the season, they seem to have turned it around.Big Brother style scutiny at training seems to have them firing on all cylinders.

ronaldinho-milan-300x244 Cream always rises!Juve’s impressive opener in the Champions League against UEFA Cup holders Zenit and Inters ‘Special’ qualities seem to suggest Italian football is going through a renaissance of sorts.

I predict Milan to go on a run now and stamp their authority on the league beginning with tonights tricky away fixture to Reggiana.Treble them with home ties for Juve and Inter and its an attractive 7/4 price to set you up for the weekend.

Forza Gamblio!

English Football Betting - Saturdays Double

By Sir Tipalot | Aug 23, 2008

For the first game of today’s double I’m looking a bit lower down the divisions. Bury take on Morcambe at home. Alan Knill has guided his team to 2 wins out of 2 after beating Brentford 1-0 and Chesterfield 3-1 away. Morcambe have only taken 1 point from a possible 6. A number of bookmakers are offering odds of 10/11 for a home victory.

To complete the double I’m backing Coventry to beat Bristol City at home. Chris Colemans side have looked decent in their opening two games taking maximum points. Bristol City have started well too, with an away win to Blackpool and a draw with one of the favourites for promotion Derby County. Ladbrokes have them at 5/4.

Olympic Boxing - John Joe Joyce

By Sir Tipalot | Aug 13, 2008

Joe Joe Joyce finally beat Hungary’s Gyula Kate at the 4th attempt. Kate had beaten Joyce 32 -17 when the pair met at last years World Championship in Chicago as well as been beaten in the previous two European Union Championships. Joyce controlled the fight from the start and beat the Hungarian, who is ranked 8th in the world, 9-5.

john-joe-joyce-300x225 Olympic Boxing - John Joe JoyceNext up is Felix Diaz of the Dominican Republic who beat Armenia’s Eduard Hambardzumyan 11-5 in his first round. A win here for Joyce would put him into the last 8 of the competition. Paddy Power has Joyce at 33/1 for Joyce to win the medal. Not a bad price after witnessing Joyces classy performance in his first fight. So whn I saw BetFred and SkyBet offering 66/1, I jumped at the chance. Play it right on the exchanges and it could turn out a nice little earner.

China Vs USA - Olympics Basketball

By Sir Tipalot | Aug 10, 2008

usa-china-basketball-221x300 China Vs USA - Olympics BasketballChina take on Team USA today in the Mens Olympics Basketball today. It is expected that over 1 billion people will tune into to watch the game making it one of the most watched games in sporting history.

The Americans are strong favourites to win this game with PaddyPower going as far as offering odds of 1/500. However Team USA are under a huge amount of pressure to win gold at these Olympics after they only won a bronze in Athens. These two teams played each other at the 2006 World Championships and the States trounced their oppostiton 121 - 90. This time they will have to contain 7′ 6″ Houston Rockets superstar Yao Ming playing in front of a home stadium.

SportingBet.com are offering China (+33.5 handicap) at odds of 5/6. It’s a game that Team USA should win but by more than 33 points would be a tall order.

Coca Cola Championship - Saturdays Double

By Sir Tipalot | Aug 9, 2008

The Championship get under way today. For my double bet I’m going for Queens Park Rangers to beat Barnsley (4/6) and Cardiff to beat Southampton (10/11).

QPR are strong contenders for promotion this season after the takeover by Motor Racing magnates Bernie Ecclestone and Co last season. Cardiff should be too strong at home for Southampton who were lucky not to be relegated last season.
