Boxing Betting Guide

Betting on boxing has been common place for centuries. Fist fighting dates back to the 3rd Millennium BC and has been depicted in history throughout the ages. Modern boxing as we know it started to take shape in 1743 when the first boxing rules were introduced by champion Jack Broughton. London Prize Ring rules were introduced in 1838 where the 24 feet (7.3 m) square ring surrounded by ropes was introduced. Then finally the Marquess of Queensberry rules as we know them now were introduced in 1867.

Boxing Bets

The most popular bet in boxing is who you think will win the fight. Basically you have not two but three options for the outcome, you can choose which player will win or you could take the odds on a draw which is far less likely but the odds will be greater.

Another bet to be had is Round Betting. Here you have to determine how many rounds will be fought in the match. The bookmakers will decide on the number of rounds and then you choose whether the boxing will finish before or after that amount of rounds. As a general guide there are meant to be 12 rounds in professional bouts but this can vary. Boxing matches can be won on points if both boxers continue to the end of the match, or a knockout. So you can even bet on how the match will be won.
